NFL fans had a lot to say about the Kansas City Chiefs’ safety Justin Reid commenting on his new job for the upcoming season. Reid is expected to replace kicker Harrison Butker for much of the team’s kickoffs because of the new league rules for the play.
The Kansas City Chiefs plan to replace Harrison Butker on kickoffs
Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub said he planned to use Reid and Louis Rees-Zammit in place of Butker on kickoffs where the Chiefs do not need distance. Toub doesn’t want Butker, a player who has expressed the virtues of his masculinity during a controversial commencement speech this offseason, to injure his delicate frame attempting to make a tackle against some of the smallest and speediest players in the league.
Justin Reid talks about taking over Butker’s old job
As previously discussed on GH, Reid talked about his new duty during the Chiefs’ visit to the White House on Friday:
While Reid was doing this, he was asked about the new kickoff rules in the NFL. To say Reid is excited about it is an understatement:
“There’s this great new kickoff rule that’s really gonna allow me to shine.” -Justin Reid
