NFL Announces Punishment for Raiders, Chargers After Massive Brawl

The Los Angeles Chargers beat the Las Vegas Raiders 22-10 to open the 2024 regular season. However, a fight that broke out late in the fourth quarter was the lasting memory of the heated divisional matchup.

With 3:40 to go in regulation, Chargers running back Gus Edwards was stuffed by the Raiders defense attempting to convert a two-point conversion.

The play spilled into the back of the end zone as Chargers receiver Josh Palmer tried to block Raiders safety Marcus Epps, leading to Raiders cornerback Jack Jones stepping in to defend his fellow defensive back.

From there, multiple scuffles broke out before the officiating crew took control of the situation.

After reviewing the tape, the NFL stepped in on Saturday with punishments for those involved in Week 1.

The NFL fined #Chargers WR Josh Palmer $11,255 and #Raiders CB Jack Jones $5,472 and for their roles in a fight last week. Both were ejected.
