NFL analyst provides blueprint for Commanders 2025 draft (and it's perfect)

Adam Peters and his accomplished front office staff are currently finalizing their board ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. One analyst offered the perfect blueprint to ensure the Washington Commanders are in the best possible position to make another deep postseason run next season.

The Commanders have been bold throughout the offseason so far. Peters knew this project was ahead of schedule and reacted accordingly. Washington landed two accomplished performers in the trade market and signed veteran free agents with proven production and experience on winning franchises. Some even have the Super Bowl rings to show for it.

That doesn't guarantee success, but it proved fruitful throughout Washington's memorable run to the NFC Championship game last time around. Peters is hoping it brings similar good fortune when the 2025 campaign arrives.

Peters doesn't have much to work with during the draft. The Commanders have five picks at their disposal and just two in the top 100. They don't have selections in the third or fifth rounds following trades for left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. That makes things more difficult, but the front-office leader can bolster his assets by moving back if the right offer comes along.

Commanders must continue their aggressive offseason during the 2025 NFL Draft

Ben Solak from ESPN urged Peters to keep his foot on the gas. The up-and-coming analyst thought no team should be more aggressive than the Commanders in the draft. He also thought finding pro-ready prospects capable of making a difference when the postseason rolls around was essential if Washington wants to unseat the division rival Philadelphia Eagles.

No team should approach the draft more aggressively than the Commanders. Adding high-impact, immediate contributors is the name of the game here. Trade up for falling players and take risks on guys with red flags on their eval -- the sort of players who would have gone a round higher if not for injury history or poor production. Draft players you can envision starting -- and mattering -- in January football.Ben Solak

The Commanders cannot bet on athletic upside becoming something more. They need college prospects who've been in big games and thrived. They need outstanding leadership and players with the poise, drive, and determination to inspire others.

It doesn't matter how the Commanders acquire them. It's an objective he must achieve.

The time for half-measures is over. Peters knows that instant accomplishments raise expectations. Fans got their first genuine taste of excitement for the first time in decades. They want this to be the start of something truly special rather than a fleeting moment of pure elation.

Washington valued certain traits above others during Peters's first draft at the helm in 2024. Leadership. Production. Coming from prestigious programs. What they accomplished in college and what they could be in the pros. The goalposts have moved slightly with the Commanders' window for a Super Bowl open, so it's all about striking with conviction.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

Whether that's moving up, trading back, standing pat, or a combination of the three is irrelevant. Just so long as Peters finds the instant difference-makers needed to go one better when competitive action commences again.
