New York Rangers Bet Big on Sam Carrick to Boost Playoff Hopes

In response to their playoff exit, the Rangers embarked on improving their roster during the offseason, with a clear focus on enhancing their depth rather than chasing marquee free agents. Among their strategic additions is forward Sam Carrick, signed on a three-year contract valued at $1 million per year. Carrick, known for his rough and tumble style akin to Rangers’ favorite Matt Rempe, may offer more to the team than just experienced depth.
Previously with the Edmonton Oilers, Carrick arrived via a trade from the Anaheim Ducks last season alongside Adam Henrique. Although his stint with the Oilers revealed minimal usage, Carrick’s on-ice tenacity and physical play were unmistakable during his limited appearances. His career tally stands at 28 goals and 25 assists over 240 games, demonstrating a reliable if unglamorous productivity level, aligning well with the financial prudence of his signing.
