New York Knicks Make Final Roster Decision on NBA Champion

The New York Knicks have had a great season thus far as they have been one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

New York currently sits third in the East standings with a 47-27 record and they are one of just three East teams to have already clinched a playoff spot with the other two being the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics.

Of course, the Knicks look as though they are going to be the third seed in the East heading into the playoffs as they sit eight games behind the Celtics for second and three and a half games ahead of the fourth seed Indiana Pacers.

Despite this, the Knicks are still trying to get their roster healthy including their star point guard Jalen Brunson who remains sidelined due to a sprained ankle.

New York has struggled at times while Brunson has been out but their core of Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh hart and Mikal Bridges have been excellent this season.

Another player who has played a key role this season for the Knicks since they signed him is former NBA champion P.J. Tucker.

On Monday, Tucker’s second 10-day contract expired but the Knicks wasted no time in making a crucial decision ahead of the playoffs.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Knicks are signing Tucker to a two-year deal that includes a team option for 2025-26.

Of course, Tucker has not seen a lot of court time since signing with New York but he has brought veteran leadership to the locker room.

With Tucker giving the Knicks a much-needed veteran and also providing them with leadership, it is to no surprise that New York decided to sign him to a standard contract before their playoff run.

The 39-year-old forward will continue to be a key piece in the locker room for the Knicks as they head into the playoffs and try to win the franchise’s first championship since 1972-73.
