New York Jets: 7x Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady Speaks Out on Aaron Rodgers Comeback Season

The New York Jets and four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers realize that 2024 is an important season for the immediate future of the franchise. Earlier this offseason, Rodgers himself said that if does not play up to the expectations he (and everyone else) has, there could be some drastic changes made to the team next year. This could include his having to find a new job.

Indeed, Rodgers and the Jets have been one of the most talked about teams of the NFL offseason, with many in the media speaking poorly of the future Pro Football Hall of Famer and the way he treats teammates and coaches.

One new member of the NFL media, though, is quite excited to see what Rodgers will accomplish this year.

According to Evan Massey of Sports Illustrated, former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady recently said of Rodgers,

“I’m really excited for what he’s about to undertake here shortly going into the season. I think you have those injuries, they put a lot of things into perspective for you when you have them, and I want to see the fire that he’s got when he goes out there on the field. And how he [chooses] to lead the team this year. So it’s going to be an exciting year for the Jets fans.”

Brady, of course, had previously been on of Rodgers’ contemporaries, with the two competing against each other less than a handful of times. However, they are both considered two of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, so his view of the upcoming season has a certain nuance to it that other analysts simply do not and cannot have.

The expectation, of course, is that Rodgers and the Jets compete for a spot in the NFL Playoffs. New York has not been to the postseason since 2010, the same year in which Rodgers won his only Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers.

At the time, Rodgers was in his third season as the Packers starting quarterback and appeared to be on a path to multiple titles. However, Green Bay never made it back to the Super Bowl despite numerous appearances in the NFC Championship Game, the last of which was against Brady and the Buccaneers.

A seven-time Super Bowl Champion, Brady won three of his rings after turning 40 years old. Rodgers will never be able to match Brady’s ring count, but he and the Jets would really like a taste of the same late-career success Brady had.
