New Team Emerges in the Sweepstakes to Land Vancouver Canucks Forward Elias Pettersson

As more and more teams begin showing interest in Elias Pettersson, a new team has emerged as a potential landing spot for the Swedish forward.

Trade rumors have begun heating up around the National Hockey League in recent weeks as the deadline is less than 60 days away.

For the Vancouver Canucks, it's still unclear which direction they may take at the trade deadline based on how they've been playing, but the team appears to be testing the market for two of their star forwards - Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman confirmed on the Saturday Headlines segment of Hockey Night in Canada that Patrik Allvin is exploring the market for the two players following reports of a feud between them.

Numerous teams have been mentioned as potential fits for Elias Pettersson, but a new team has entered the mix in the last little while.

New York Islanders reportedly ''checked in'' on Elias Pettersson

In an article on The Hockey News on Wednesday, Islanders reporter Stefan Rosner revealed that the team has checked in on Elias Pettersson and his availability ahead of the trade deadline.

'The Islanders have 100 percent checked in, more than once. Pettersson and Horvat are very tight,' A source told Stefan Rosner.

Rosner went on to mention that the Vancouver Canucks have interest in defenseman Noah Dobson, forward Brock Nelson as well as prospect Danny Nelson, who currently plays for Notre Dame in the NCAA.

'Separate from a deal for Pettersson, we know that defenseman Noah Dobson is high on their list, and they have interest in pending unrestricted free-agent forward Brock Nelson.' Rosner said.

He added, 'There's interest in Islanders prospect Danny Nelson, too.'

The 2024-25 trade deadline is set for 12 pm PT on Friday, March 7th and it looks like it could be a busy one for General Manager Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks front office.
