New report suggests former Tennessee Vols QB Joe Milton shouldn't get too comfortable this offseason with New England Patriots

The New England Patriots apparently aren't closed off to the idea of trading former Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton this offseason.

Joe Milton Has Social Media Raving After First Preseason Game for New England Patriots

According to the Boston Sports Journal's Greg Bedard, there's "increasing belief" around the NFL that the Patriots could trade Milton this offseason.

“I thought the Patriots would hold off on entertaining a trade of Joe Milton, who was drafted in the sixth round (193rd overall) last year, for at least another season, but there’s increasing belief around the NFL that the Patriots are at least contemplating a trade of Milton this offseason,” wrote Bedard.

“Again, I’m not saying he’s on the block right now, but the Patriots will likely consider it when everything settles with the front office and coaching staff,” added Bedard.

Milton, who started his college career at Michigan before transferring to Tennessee, played in just one game for the Patriots as a rookie in 2024.

The former Vol started New England's season-finale against the Buffalo Bills and he played extremely well.

Milton completed 22-of-29 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown in the 23-16 win against Buffalo. He also rushed for 16 yards and a touchdown.

The Florida native showed off his play-making potential on an incredible scramble/throw that didn't count due to a penalty.

That play alone likely has some offensive coordinators in the NFL salivating over Milton's potential.

The Patriots are committed to quarterback Drake Maye, the No. 3 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, so it's unlikely that there's much of a future in New England for Milton.

This doesn't seem like a situation where the Patriots are eager to trade Milton, but if the right deal comes along, the former Tennessee quarterback could certainly be in a new uniform in 2025.
