New Las Vegas Raiders rumors link team to pursuit of two former 1st round picks to be starting QB in 2025

A pair of new rumors reveals a pair of former first-round picks are on the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback wish list this offseason. Including a former two-time Pro Bowler.

After three straight losing seasons, the Raiders have the opportunity to make a big turnaround next season. They have premium picks in this year’s NFL Draft. And a boatload of cash to spend in free agency. Furthermore, the hiring of Pete Carroll to be their new head coach is another reason for renewed hope.

Las Vegas has a lot of holes to fill on the roster, however, upgrading the quarterback position is a top priority. It has been a huge problem for the franchise over the last two seasons, and they will continue to struggle in a tough AFC West if they can get better play at quarterback.

There is a strong chance the team could address that need early in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, a pair of new Las Vegas Raiders rumors link the team to pursuits for a pair of former first-round QBs in the days and weeks ahead.

On Wednesday, Las Vegas Review-Journal Raiders reporter Vincent Bonsignore revealed that Las Vegas is pursuing a trade for Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford. “Raiders minority owner Tom Brady has been in contact with Stafford’s camp about the possibility of the 37-year-old coming to Las Vegas,” Bonsignore wrote.

The two-time Pro Bowler is reportedly looking for an extension on the two years left on his current contract. However, the Review-Journal reporter admits Las Vegas has reservations about giving the veteran QB what he is looking for. But he is not the only former first-round pick they are looking at to possibly be their starting signal caller in 2025.

“Obviously, there’s a long way to go with the Raiders QB room, but a name that keeps coming up here in Indianapolis [at the NFL Combine], at least in terms of bringing into the mix, is Zach Wilson,” Bonsignore wrote on X Wednesday.

The second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft played for the Denver Broncos in 2024 after a disastrous three-year stint with the New York Jets.
