NBA Trainer Makes Bold MVP Claim About Philadelphia 76ers Star

Tyrese Maxey is one of the fastest-rising stars in the NBA right now. He got his first All-Star call-up last season and also won the Most Improved Player Award, as he averaged 25.9 points, 6.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 70 regular season games in 2023-24.

Maxey raised his game a level or two further in the playoffs, averaging 29.8 points, 6.8 assists and 5.2 rebounds in 6 games but unfortunately, the 76ers were not able to get past the New York Knicks in the first round.

Maxey has superstar written all over him and was rewarded for his magnificent performances with a $204 million, 5-year max contract from the 76ers this offseason.

NBA trainer, Drew Hanlen, was recently asked on X whether Maxey could become the MVP of the league. Not only did he not rule the idea out but he also made an exciting claim about the jump the 23-year-old has made this summer.

Why not? Last summer was our first summer together & he won MIP & was an All-Star. He's made just as much of a jump this summer, so I think he's ready to stamp himself as one of the leagues best in upcoming seasons.

An improved version of Maxey must certainly be a scary thought for opposition teams around the league. He is already too good to handle for most.

It is not just about Maxey and Joel Embiid for the 76ers next season either. After adding Paul George to their roster over the offseason on a four-year, $212 million deal, they are being considered a title contender going into the 2024-25 campaign.

Of course, all three would need to make some adjustments in order to make things work on the court and their numbers might dip slightly. There is only one ball to go around.

But if it does work according to plan, expect the 76ers to have their best season in a long, long time.
