When it comes to spectacular performances this NFL season, Las Vegas Raiders Tight End, Brock Bowers has had one amazing season despite how the Raiders’ season has gone.
Brock Bowers most notably made an appearance at LIV vs the PGA Tour Showdown on Wednesday. During the event, Bowers had a chance to talk with Charles Barkley and the crew. In that moment, Barkley used the conversation to pour salt on an old wound.
Everyone knows that the SEC runs football and that the fan bases of each team are very passionate about their schools. You see, Brock Bowers is a Georgia product.
Recently, NBA Legend and Auburn Alum Charles Barkley had a few choice words for the rookie tight end. Barkley has a strong dislike for Bowers for what the Georgia Bulldogs did to the Auburn Tigers last season. The Bulldogs edged the Tigers in a tight game 27-20.
“You know Brock, I told you earlier it was an honor to meet you and how much I hate you,” Barkley said. He continued, “Because I was at the Auburn game last year and we had the lead. Brock caught five straight passes. I’m like “He’s the only guy we can’t let catch a pass.’ He caught five straight passes cause our coach…I don’t know what the hell we were doing man.”
Bowers is sixth in the league in with 90 receptions. Those 90 catches make him the first rookie ever to rack up that many. Bowers has definitely proved that he is an integral part of the Raiders rebuilding in the offseason.
Along with his 90 catches, Bowers has gained 948 yards, 4 touchdowns, and averaged 10.76 yards per carry.
“You’re a stud and continued success,” Barkley said.
Aside from his disdain for what happened between Georgia and Auburn last season, the two laughed and Barkley did congratulate Bowers on a tremendous rookie season with the Raiders.
