Mitchell Robinson Addresses Concerns After Missing Team Event

New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is putting to rest any concerns after his absence from a recent team event sparked speculation among fans and media.

Robinson, who has been a key piece of the Knicks’ interior defense, was notably missing from the team’s annual community outreach event earlier this week. While the organization did not immediately provide details, his absence quickly became a topic of discussion on social media, with some questioning whether it indicated deeper issues within the team.

Speaking to reporters after practice on Thursday, Robinson clarified the situation. “I wasn’t skipping out on my team,” he said. “I had a personal matter to handle, and the coaches and front office knew about it ahead of time. There’s no drama here.”

The 25-year-old big man emphasized his commitment to the Knicks and to the community initiatives the team organizes every year. “I’ve been to this event plenty of times before, and I love being part of it. This year was just bad timing for me, but it doesn’t change how I feel about giving back.”

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau backed up Robinson’s explanation, telling reporters, “We knew where he was, and it was handled internally. Mitch is a big part of our team and our culture.”

Robinson, who is coming off a season where he anchored one of the league’s top defenses, says he’s focused on preparing for the upcoming season and leaving no room for distractions. “I’m here, I’m healthy, and I’m ready to work. That’s all that matters,” he said.

With training camp just weeks away, both Robinson and the Knicks appear eager to put the chatter behind them and focus on the season ahead.
