Minnesota Vikings’ $10 million quarterback expected to leave Minnesota and sign with the New York Giants

It’s very likely that the New York Giants will be looking for a new quarterback after the 2024 season.

What path they take will depend on their position in the NFL draft, but if they decide to explore free agency, they might consider Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold.

After having a strong season with the Vikings, Darnold is now seen as a possible option for the Giants, according to Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report.

“Darnold’s fit with Brian Daboll and the Giants wouldn’t be as clean, though I expect New York to exhaust all options if and when it pulls the plug on Daniel Jones,” Knox wrote.

The Giants are widely expected to move on from Daniel Jones’ contract this offseason if things continue as they are. While this would result in a $22.2 million cap hit, they would save $19.4 million in cap space for the 2025 season.

Darnold has had a comeback season under coach Kevin O’Connell with the Vikings, but with the team’s future tied to first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, it seems likely that Darnold will be one of the top quarterbacks available in free agency.

This probably won’t be the last time the Giants and Darnold are linked as the offseason approaches.
