Zach LaVine's name has constantly done rounds of the trade rumor mill in recent times as it is believed that the Chicago Bulls are ready to say goodbye to him for the right offer. Over the last few days, there has been speculation about the Denver Nuggets being interested in acquiring the 29-year-old.
LaVine has made an excellent start to the season. He has averaged 21.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 26 games so far.
That is believed to have raised LaVine's trade value as he has proven that he is still one of the most dynamic scorers in the league, even after returning from injury. And plenty of teams with Championship aspirations could do with a player of his quality.
Any LaVine trade to the Nuggets would likely involve Michael Porter Jr. heading in the opposite direction.
Interestingly, Porter has been told that the Nuggets have no plans to part ways with him right now. According to Bennett Durando in The Denver Post, the 26-year-old said: "They've reached out to me and said it's all noise, (that) there's nothing serious going on, and if there was, they would let me know.
"And they've said they love how I'm playing and to keep being aggressive, keep playing, and they have no desire to move me right now."
Porter also seems to understand the nature of these situations though, as he added: "But I also know that they wouldn't tell me if they wanted to move me."
Porter has spent his entire career with the Nuggets so far since being selected 14th overall in 2018.
It is not hard to understand why someone like Porter would be a solid addition for the Bulls. He has shown that he is durable, having started 81 regular season games in 2023-24 and is also three years younger than LaVine.
This season, Porter is averaging 18.3 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 51.8% from the field and 38.8% from beyond the arc.
It remains to be seen whether there is genuine interest in making a trade happen and if so, whether the two teams can find a deal that suits them both.
