Michael Penix Jr. is bizarrely asked if he thinks the Falcons will draft a QB in the upcoming NFL Draft

After NFL debut, Michael Penix Jr. picks side in UW-Indiana 'Penix Bowl' | The Seattle Times

More and more each day, I start to agree with Alshon Jeffery – Super Bowl media week is terrible. Not only do the Super Bowl participants have to deal with repeated questions that are phrased differently, have to uphold other responsibilities to their respective brands, partake in tedious social media content, but so do the NFLers who are not playing in the big game.

One common theme we've been seeing this week is – for lack of a better word – dumb questions. Regardless of how you feel about the Kansas City Chiefs, the fact that Patrick Mahomes was asked who he favorite referee is is absurd. Today, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was asked his fair share of bizarre questions.

For those that missed the reference, Kirk Cousins signed a four-year, $180 million contract ($100 million guaranteed,$50 million signing bonus) with the Falcons on March 11, 2024. Then in April, the Falcons drafted Penix eighth overall.

After starting off hot, Cousins' play started deteriorating just as fast. With their playoff hopes slipping away, Cousins was benched in favor of Cousins in Week 16 – wrapping up his run as QB1 with a 7-7 record. Penix went 1-2 to finish the 2024 season but his performance was electric and well beyond his years – 737 passing yards, four total touchdowns, three interceptions.

The followup question was what is Penix's "wish list" for Falcons target in the draft. The future franchise QB responded with a classy answer – "No comment...Whoever can help this team win football games. Obviously there's people who do that job in the organization, that make those big time picks for our future. In this team, we're going to trust those picks."
