Maxx Crosby voices stunning prediction on Aaron Rodgers free agent saga

While the Las Vegas Raiders have their quarterback situation figured out with Geno Smith, teams around the NFL are still curious about where Aaron Rodgers plays next season.

Rodgers is undoubtedly the biggest name remaining on the open market, but the problem is that teams are flying off the quarterback carousel. Some interested teams like the New York Giants have found free agent solutions already, while others like the Minnesota Vikings are hoping to gauge their current situation before committing to the first-ballot Hall of Famer. As a result, Rodgers finds himself still without a team weeks after the official start of free agency.

The topic came up for discussion on Raiders superstar pass rusher Maxx Crosby’s podcast The Rush, where he offered up his take on the situation.

Crosby’s prediction on the fate of Rodgers for 2025 is nothing short of surprising.

“I think he retires,” Crosby said. “I think the fact that he’s not with Davante (Adams) and he’s not very familiar with Pittsburgh, I don’t know. I think he retires. He’s about 42 now. I would like that.”

While Rodgers might still have a little juice left, the fact of the matter is that there are only so many spots available in the NFL for starting quarterbacks. Between free agency and the draft opening and closing possibilities, there are very few openings for Rodgers to start in 2025. If he does not find a spot with a satisfactory role, he could very well choose to retire instead of serve as a veteran backup and possible mentor.

The only logical place remaining for Rodgers stands to be the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Crosby did not seem to understand that idea.

“I feel like that would make sense, him going to the Steelers,” Crosby added. “I think they need a quarterback; they need a guy who’s a vet, a proven dude. But I don’t know. I don’t see it. I just don’t see that as a thing. I can’t see him in a Pittsburgh uniform. My brain can’t put that together.”

The longer Rodgers remains a free agent, the more likely Crosby’s prediction comes to pass.
