Matthew Stafford’s Wife Kelly Breaks Silence on Painful Vikings Trade Rumor

The Minnesota Vikings' quarterback situation has been among the most fluid and polarizing since March, the most recent chapter of which dealt with speculation of a trade involving Los Angeles Rams starting quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Obviously, no such deal ever happened. And no such deal can now happen after the NFL's trade deadline of Tuesday, Nov. 5, came and went. But that reality didn't stop the QB's wife, Kelly Stafford, from going on her podcast Wednesday to offer a loud and complete debunking of those rumors.

"There was no legs to this, which was very interesting because I opened up Instagram one day and [thought], 'Oh, do I need to start looking for a home in Minnesota? What's happening?'" Kelly Stafford said.

She added that she never texted her husband about the trade rumors, as doing so would be inappropriate -- at least in her perception of things -- unless he brought it up first.

Kelly Stafford added that just the rumor of the trade, let alone it actually happening, put stress on her. She is the mother of four children and the rumors caused her to start considering what it would take to move her family halfway across the country.

"I was thinking about it, in our world now, what would happen if that rumor was true? What would happen if we hadn't won a game again and Minnesota offered something for Matthew?" Kelly Stafford continued. "I've always told myself we will never separate our family [because] it's not fair to anyone. It's not fair to him to not be able to see his girls, it's not fair to the girls not to see their dad, I would lose my mind without him."

The Vikings lost to the Rams a couple of games back, after which Stafford remained the QB in Los Angeles, while Sam Darnold remains the starting quarterback in Minnesota.
