The Green Bay Packers 2024 campaign came to an end in the wild card round of the playoffs, as they suffered a 22-10 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. And even though the offseason is only a couple days old, Matt LaFleur has already lost a member of his coaching staff that unretired in order to work with Aaron Rodgers.
The Packers had high expectations this season, but a slew of injuries ultimately prevented them from being able to build off of their 2023 campaign. The hope is that a strong offseason and better luck with injuries next year will allow Green Bay to prosper moving forward.
Keeping their coaching staff largely intact would help, but changes are already going to have to be made. That's because LaFleur revealed on Tuesday morning that longtime quarterbacks Tom Clements would be retiring after spending 14 seasons with the team.
"Longtime Packers QB coach Tom Clements is retiring, Matt LaFleur says," Matt Schneidman shared in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Clements latched on with Green Bay back in 2006, where he worked six years as the team's quarterbacks coach, meaning he spent a lot of time with Rodgers. Clements would become the Packers offensive coordinator from 2012 to 2014, and then the team's assistant head coach for 2015 and 2016.
After spending the 2019 and 2020 campaigns with the Arizona Cardinals, Clements retired, only to come out of retirement in 2022 to return to Green Bay as their quarterbacks coach, presumably to help keep Rodgers happy. It didn't work, though, as Rodgers bolted for the New York Jets after just one season.
Clements remained with the Packers to help develop Jordan Love, and he's turned into one of the top quarterbacks in the league. With that job done, Clements has opted to call it a career, and that now means Green Bay has a big position they will need to fill on their coaching staff early on in the offseason.
