A smaller school sending a player to the Senior Bowl isn't unusual, but Marshall edge rusher Mike Green made viral waves during the practice sessions.
CBS Sports previously reported that Green would be the 71st overall prospect and the 12th edge rusher overall. But after a video surfaced of Green rushing Oregon prospect Josh Conerly Jr. off his feet, Green's camp decided that his work at the Senior Bowl was complete, and he headed home to prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Green led the FBS last season in sacks, totaling 17 on the season. Green told NFL Network on Wednesday, "Coming into Marshall, my approach was different."
"I knew that I was a good athlete, all the coaches knew I was a good athlete. I needed to excel in my knowledge in the playbook, and I needed to excel in knowing the game of football more, and once I took that next step, I think my game excelled over the next year or two."
So, what would the Falcons get if they chose to go this route with the 15th overall pick in this year's draft? Green is 6-foot-3 and weighs 251 pounds. He has a high motor, and his wrestling background would help him understand leverage at the NFL level.
Greene also has special teams experience in all phases of the game. A potential weakness is that Green often lunges at tackle attempts and has limited experience playing ball at a high level.
New Falcons DC Jeff Ulbrich Intends To Create Pressure On Opposing Quarterbacks
After spending the last four seasons with the New York Jets, Jeff Ulbrich’s hiring was announced by the Atlanta Falcons on Jan. 18th.
Ulbrich led the Jets as interim head coach in 12 games last season after the firing of Robert Saleh.
