Since the conclusion of the Baltimore Ravens' season, there have been several different opinions and rumors floating around regarding the future of tight end Mark Andrews.
Of course, the season didn't end anywhere near the way Andrews or the fans would have liked, and that's an understatement. From the moment the season came to a close, people started to wonder whether or not Andrews would be in the team's plans going forward.
Soon enough, trade rumors started surfacing. There is always the possibility of Baltimore cutting him altogether, thus saving $11 million on the process. But, trade rumors began nonetheless. Maybe, the team could get something in return for an aging tight end seemingly on the downward trend.
Then, the rumors were somewhat put to rest just days later.
And, here we are again. It's clear the Ravens have a decision to make, but how is this thing going to end?
On a recent episode of the Locked On Ravens podcast, the idea that Baltimore was trying to trade their veteran tight end was again brought up. Rumors are going to start swirling again, as one source on the show stated he's hearing of Baltimore now shopping Andrews.
The problem is, according to this rumor, that the Ravens' asking price for Andrews is too high.
Andrews' cap number for 2025 is just under $17 million and, for a team like the Ravens who are near the bottom of the league in total cap space as it stands, that almost seems like a no-brainer just to cut ties.
That's likely why teams are hesitant to offer anything in exchange for Andrews. It's a similar situation to what we just saw with Cooper Kupp and the Los Angeles Rams. Kupp might still have plenty left in the tank, but his cap hit was too large for another team to gamble on.
In the end, Kupp was released and ended up signing a more modest contract with the Seattle Seahawks.
For Baltimore to trade Andrews might be viewed as a win, all things considered. A trade doesn't seem likely. It seems as though he'll either be on the roster for 2025 or he'll get cut, but a trade would come as a surprise.
