New York Jets wide receiver Malachi Corley is heading into a very crucial training camp in 2025.

Ahead of camp, Corley took to Instagram to fire off a post.

“Don’t Come With No Message, Cause We’ll Off The Messenger.💙 #6ix0GetLow,” Corley posted.

The Jets Scholarship Is Over for Corley in 2025

NFL draft analysts likened Corley to Deebo Samuel, 2.0. A wide receiver in a running back’s body.

“Let’s keep this simple: if you’re looking for the next Deebo Samuel, look no further than Malachi Corley,” Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports said. “He was featured in the quick passing game basically to get the ball in his hands and let him do the rest.”

The Jets just drafted Deebo Samuel 2.0 in Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley 👀

Corley’s rookie season in the NFL was wholly unremarkable. He appeared in nine games and only made one start.

Through the first three weeks of the season, Corley had one reception for four receiving yards. The next month, he was a healthy scratch, not playing in any games.

Corley reemerged from the darkness in Week 9 when his number was called.

It was 1st and 10 from the Houston Texans’ 19-yard line to start the second quarter. Aaron Rodgers snapped the ball, faked a RB counter to Breece Hall, kept the ball, and flipped it to Corley, who was running a WR reverse.

Everything was perfect. The blocking on the play was all accounted for, the other players who were faking the other play sold it, and Corley appeared to walk into the end zone untouched for the 19-yard score.

Upon further review, Corley threw the ball behind him before crossing the end zone, resulting in a fumble outside the back of the end zone, which resulted in a touchback, giving Houston possession.

The play was perfect, something Jets fans didn’t say a lot when Nathaniel Hackett or Todd Downing were the offensive coordinators this past season.

After Corley’s mistake, the Jets seemingly punished him by removing him from the game plan moving forward.

The Blunt Truth on Corley Heading Into Next Season

There is good news and bad news.

The good news is that Corley has a clean slate with this new regime. Head coach Aaron Glenn made things clear at the Annual League Meeting that he doesn’t give a crap what happened before he got here.

So, Corley shouldn’t be operating from a deficit based on that previous mistake.

However, the bad news is that the scholarship is over. There is no more honeymoon period from the Jets trading up to select Corley with the first pick in the third round.

Corley is starting on an even playing field with every other receiver on the roster.

Well, he was at the beginning of this offseason. He may not be anymore. Corley has been dealing with an undisclosed injury, which has kept him out of action for a significant portion of the offseason.

Corley’s sole focus should be getting healthy during this mini-break before everyone returns for training camp. A healthy Corley gives him a shot at making the roster and carving out a significant role in 2025.
