Mahomes Ready For ‘Great Opportunity’ On ‘Big Stage’ vs. Ravens

Well, folks, Week 1 of the NFL season is nearly here, and the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens will kick things off at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night.

In a game that pits last season's AFC Championship teams against each other, it is looming as a big test for both right out of the gate. The AFC is stacked with playoff-caliber teams, and both will be looking to lay a marker for the rest of the league.

Mahomes Ready For 'Great Opportunity' On 'Big Stage' vs. Ravens

And for Patrick Mahomes, he can't wait for the chance to play on a big stage to open the season.

"It's just a great opportunity for the guys to see what it's like to be on the biggest stage," Mahomes said. "Obviously, you want to play in the Super Bowl at the end of the year, but this is a big stage as well, and so to be able to get that experience to play a great football team, I'm excited for these guys to get out there and the guys that haven't been here, [to] see what it's like to be on that type of stage."

The Chiefs will be looking to maintain their recent good record over the Ravens (4-1 in last five), and also, it's a chance to inflict some psychological damage to Lamar Jackson and Co.

Having beaten the Ravens 17-10 in the AFC Championship game last season, Baltimore will be wanting revenge and if it loses again, doubts might start to creep in regarding whether they can take down Mahomes and the Chiefs.

It will be a big stage on Thursday night for Mahomes and the Co., but that's nothing new as they look to begin the regular season in the same fashion they did last year - by winning.
