Lisa Vanderpump opened up about how “Vanderpump Rules” will work now that it is getting a complete reboot with a new cast.
Speaking with E! News in an interview published on December 10, the Bravo star said she is not trying to copy the original version of the show.
“I think everything we do is going to have a different energy to it,” Vanderpump told the outlet. “Not gonna try and compete with the old ‘Vanderpump Rules.’ It’s just gonna be totally different there. Still we’ll go back to the premise of the complications of running a restaurant and the staff in it. And that always has a story to tell.”
Lisa Vanderpump Wants Authenticity From the New Cast
Vanderpump expects to see an influx of people who will want to work at her West Hollywood restaurant, SUR. In an interview with In Touch Weekly, the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”star noted that the new cast members must be SURvers, not just reality TV wannabes. “Everybody has to authentically work there and have to actually be, you know, qualified to do the job. Otherwise, it doesn’t work,” she said of the potential cast. “We can’t just have people that want to be reality stars.”
The restaurant owner noted that some of her current staffers already fit the bill. “We have an existing group in there already that, you know, are young and forthright and have different opinions,” she said. “And that’s always the fascinating thing to watch. What I like about this show is that it does have a nucleus. It’s just not random people.”
Vanderpump previously told Access Hollywood’s “Housewives Nightcap” that she is looking for “authenticity” with the new cast. “I’m looking for great connections which always happens, whether it’s positive or negative when you’re in the restaurant business,” she added. “It’s a nucleus and it holds everybody together.”
Lisa Vanderpump Wants to See One VPR OG on the Reboot
Vanderpump hinted that the action on the new “Vanderpump Rules” will take place at both SUR and her nearby bar TomTom. She told Parade magazine she hopes that veteran cast member Tom Schwartz will appear on the new version of the show.
“I would like to see Tom Schwartz more involved in TomTom again. I think that is a brand that maybe we could develop,” she teased.
Vanderpump also told “Housewives Nightcap, “I think we’ll definitely be filming at TomTom as well [as SUR] for sure, I think Schwartz is going to be more involved in that.”
