Lisa Vanderpump is speaking highly of Tom Schwartz. In a Vanderpump Rules world where the Bravolebrity has a hard time garnering respect from a jury of his peers, his former boss is lavishing him with praise.
Pump Rules viewers will recall how Schwartz’s popularity took a nose-dive by proxy of his best friend’s affair. His co-stars questioned his loyalty to Tom Sandoval. The Schwartz & Sandy’s co-owner is still being criticized by his now ex-wife, Katie Maloney. And his seemingly heatless fling with Jo Wenberg also had former fans abandoning him.
But the famed restauranteur is firmly in his corner, and she explained why during a recent podcast interview.
Lisa wants Schwartz not to “worry about anybody else”
Lisa appeared on the June 18 episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. She was asked to choose which bar of her protégés she would most like to spend time in.
The options were Sandoval and Schwartz’s aptly-named eatery, Schwartz & Sandy’s; Jax Taylor’s recently opened bar, Jax’s Studio City; and the Something About Her sandwich shop which is co-owned by Vanderpump Rules stars Ariana Madix and Katie.
“Well, I love Schwartz,” she said. “I had dinner with him last week. I hope for Schwartz that he gets to a point where he can actually say what he’s thinking and do what he’s supposed to be doing without worrying about anybody else. He’s very smart and he’s articulate as well.”
It’s a different take on the reality TV star whose most harsh critic is Katie. LVP seems to think he’s on the cusp of some personal renaissance, where he may be able to put himself and his needs first for once.
As for his eatery, Schwartz & Sandy’s, business is improving after a public boycott in the wake of Sandoval’s affair. The restaurant was hit with poor reviews and low attendance.
