In February 2025, Lisa Vanderpump upset many Bravo fans by showing support for James Kennedy following his arrest. Today, however, she's singing a different tune.
During a new interview, Lisa Vanderpump seemed to retract her earlier statements about Kennedy's behavior, which she described as "drunken nonsense." According to her, she "cannot support" the up-and-coming DJ, who was said to have been involved in a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Ally Lewber, in December 2024.
James Kennedy Has Lost Support From Vanderpump
“I’ve had so much patience with him,” Vanderpump told Us Weekly regarding Kennedy. “I was so happy to see him with Ally and doing so well. I know it’s a disease, but at some point, you’ve got to say, ‘I cannot support this anymore’ with some people when they keep making the same mistakes.”
Vanderpump's comments come months after the former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star stirred up controversy for defending Kennedy, who was arrested in December 2024.
“I did talk to Ally at great length, and she reassured me that nothing happened physically,” she recalled, referring to the situation as “drunken nonsense.”
“I needed to hear from Ally, too, from her mouth, what happened. She told me categorically he didn’t hurt her. He never hurts her. They were both drinking,” she continued, adding both parties were "being ridiculous and arguing."
“[Lewber] basically said, ‘Oh yes, take him away. It’ll teach him a lesson,'” Vanderpump explained. “But no, he didn’t hurt her categorically. … She regrets what happened with how this blew up.”
Fans Blasted Vanderpump For Her Comments
After Vanderpump's comments went viral, "Vanderpump Rules" fans began blasting her online for being on the wrong side of the story.
"She is INCAPABLE of supporting women," one user wrote on X. "The way she lets these insidious men get a pass for their actions is BEYOND me."
Someone else clearly shared a similar feeling, writing, "She is never not finding a way to defend the man and blame the woman. It's actually incredible."
"LVP needs to stop defending him," a third person posted. "There's a list of people who have spoken out about his behavior. Always coming to his defense is giving enabling vibes."
What Happened Between James Kennedy And His Ex-Girlfriend?
According to legal documents, Burbank police officers were dispatched to a home in December 2024 following a concerning call regarding an ongoing dispute between a man and a woman.
A witness claimed Kennedy grabbed Lewber at one point in their argument; however, police noted there were no visible markings on the latter.

Following their investigation, police arrested Kennedy, who was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence. He was released from custody after posting $20,000 bail.
Later, according to PEOPLE, Kennedy released a statement saying he was dedicated to making the necessary changes in his life.
"I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life. I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth and being present for my loved ones," he wrote. "Navigating challenging moments is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow, and move forward with the incredible support system around me."
James Kennedy Sparks More Controversy After Posing With Andrew And Tristan Tate
In early March 2025, Kennedy sparked more controversy after posting a photo of him and the controversial social media users Andrew and Tristan Tate in his Instagram Stories.
For those unfamiliar with the Tates, the two men have been accused of heinous crimes, including sexual assault and human trafficking, in Romania and the United Kingdom.
After receiving backlash, Kennedy, who joined "VPR" in 2013, posted a statement admitting he regretted posing with the two men.
"I regret posting a photo with the Tate brothers at an event last night," he wrote. "I was unfamiliar with their content and the allegations against them. I only knew them as podcasters [who] had posted a viral clip about 'Vanderpump.'"
He continued, "I have since educated myself and condemn their beliefs. I am sorry to all that I offended."
However, the Tate brothers weren't thrilled to hear about this.
The Tates Slam Kennedy For Being A Fan
On X, Tristan Tate slammed Kennedy for being a fan who's trying to push an agenda onto his "woke" followers.
"[He] begged and kissed my -ss for 30 minutes straight and called me a hero," wrote Tristan.
He continued, "He knew EXACTLY who I was and what content I made."
"He's just a p-ssy who can't handle DMs from woke r—ds. F-ck this guy," he finished.
