“Likely to Miss the Team’s Final Two Games”: New York Jets’ Promising 1st Round Pick Receives a Brutal Injury Report

The New York Jets hosted the Los Angeles Rams at MetLife Stadium yesterday afternoon and lost 9-19. With the loss over the Rams, the Jets fall to 4-11 and currently have the eighth pick of the 2025 NFL Draft if the season ended today, according to Tankathon. For the final two games of the 2024 regular season, New York will play against the Buffalo Bills on the road for Week 17 and close against the Miami Dolphins at home for their season finale.

Jets’ promising left tackle Olu Fashanu suffered an apparent foot injury during the fourth quarter of Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams. The medical staff carted him off the field and into the locker room for further examination. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich didn’t provide an injury update on Fashanu during their postgame press conference, and the rookie would undergo more testing.

Olu Fashanu appears to have dodged an Achilles injury. However, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Fashanu suffered a foot injury, which will likely cause him to miss their final two regular season games. Fowler did not specify the nature of his injury in his tweet on X.

Fashanu will finish his rookie season with 15 appearances and seven starts, including five at left tackle, replacing Tyron Smith in the starting lineup since Week 11. He surrendered 23 pressures and one sack while posting a 61.2 PFF grade. The Jets have confidence in him and believe that he will be the starting left tackle of the future.
