Latest mock draft lands the Seahawks a player head coach Mike Macdonald would run through a brick wall to have on his defense

Sadly, the Seattle Seahawks are entering Week 18 already eliminated from the NFC playoff race.

But there was still much to be proud of from the team's 2024 season. They currently have a 9-7 record and one game remaining to try to pick up their tenth win.

Latest mock draft lands the Seahawks a player head coach Mike Macdonald would run through a brick wall to have on his defense

Rookie head coach Mike Macdonald had a successful first season in my book. In a new A to Z Sports mock draft, the Seahawks land him as one of the best defensive players in the 2025 NFL Draft class as a reward.

Seahawks land Georiga star safety Malaki Starks in a new mock draft

"The Seahawks probably love how the first round fell as they land Malaki Starks out of Georiga, who many believe to be a top-10 prospect in the entire class. If this was last year, Starks probably hears his name in that range, but he saw a solid regression in production in 2024. He would still be a solid day-one starter for the Seahawks, and they will just hope to coach him up and get the ball skills from 2023 back on the field."

- New A to Z Sports mock draft

Georiga safety Malaki Starks is viewed as not only one of the best defensive prospects but one of the best overall prospects in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft class. The do-it-all defensive back lined up all over the field for the Bulldogs, with him playing in the box, the slot, out wide, deep safety, and even on the defensive line in 2024.

The Seahawks already have some talent in the safety room, including Julian Love and Coby Bryant. But I think Stark's diverse skill set would allow him to play either safety position along with being an option to play some snaps in the slot when needed. I think this selection would allow the team's secondary to stay refreshed and allow multiple key players to get some reps off here and there as they rotate players in. But overall, I think the duo of Love and Starks would offer an incredibly high ceiling as the Seahawks starting safeties for the foreseeable future.
