Entering Week 17, the New York Giants had a strong grip on the number one overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
That all changed after their shocking victory over the Indianapolis Colts. They seemed primed to land one of the top two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft class. They now hold the fourth pick with three teams slotted ahead of them who also have a major need at QB.
But that didn't stop them from drafting their QB of the future in a new A to Z Sports mock draft, even if it's not who fans would expect.
Giants land Alabama QB Jalen Milroe in a new mock draft
"Undeniably, this draft slot is high for the Jalen Milroe we observed throughout most of 2024; however, if Brian Daboll remains in New York, this could be an ideal environment for him to develop into a star.
Milroe requires a gradual, structured development approach, and if provided with that opportunity, he has the potential to deliver a superstar impact for his NFL team. His exceptional deep passing ability and mobility can establish a strong foundation for a remarkable skill set."

I'm sure some of you reading this have some serious concerns about drafting Alabama QB Jalen Milroe with the fourth overall pick. Milroe had an erratic final season at Alabama, which played a role in the Crimson Tide suffering three regular-season losses and falling short of their goal of making the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff.
Even though he had his fair share of downs in 2024, Milroe's dual-threat ability is undeniable. He finished 2024 with 16 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing. You read that correctly: 20 rushing touchdowns; that was not a typo. Milroe is an incredibly gifted runner who still has some work to do if he wants to become a consistent passer at the pro level.
He is far from the perfect prospect, but if the Giants miss out on Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, Milroe might be the only swing left with true home run ability. For it to work out, though, head coach Brian Daboll would have a lot of work to do in order to help Milroe develop into an NFL QB. Luckily, he has his success with MVP candidate Josh Allen from their time together with the Buffalo Bills to use as the blueprint.
