Las Vegas To Interview Bucs Assistant GM John Spytek For GM Position

The Los Vegas Raiders have some major positions to fill this offseason as they must find a new head coach and general manager after parting ways with Antonio Pierce and Tom Telesco. Names for the head coaching position are already beginning to emerge and now the same is beginning to happen with the GM job as well.

Telesco lasted just one year and didn’t really get much of a chance to build this team up, but with Tom Brady now on board as Raiders minority owner, and expected to have a big say in the hiring process of both of these positions, perhaps he wants to get his own guys in the building.

To that point, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant GM John Spytek is scheduled to interview for the Raiders’ GM job:

Spytek has been with the Bucs organization for the last nine years, during which Brady was the quarterback there for three seasons. The two were also college teammates at the University of Michigan so that relationship could make him a favorite to potentially land this Raiders job.

But the Raiders aren’t the only team interested in Spytek, as he has already interviewed for the Tennessee Titans GM job, and it is believed he will be invited back for a second interview as well. So if the Raiders feel he is their guy, they may have to move quickly. However, the team has also reportedly requested an interview with Packers executive Jon-Eric Sullivan, so it looks as if the Raiders still have a process to go through.

Whatever the case may be, it is important for the Raiders to get the right people in as both GM and head coach and finally begin turning this franchise around.

Tom Brady believed to be assuming more control within Raiders organization

Ever since Tom Brady officially joined the Raiders organization as a minority owner, it was believed that he would have some pull within the organization. That certainly seems to be the case so far, and his control only seems to be growing.

Many have reported that Raiders owner Mark Davis will lean heavily on Brady in this head coach and GM search, and now another report cited a source that called the Raiders “Tom’s show,” so the attention and pressure will be on Brady to deliver if he is truly in charge.
