On Thursday June 19, 2025, longtime football expert and talent evaluator Rob Rang released an article titled “1 Rookie on Each NFL Team That Conjures Up a Franchise Star” for Fox Sports.

For each NFL team, Rang picked a rookie that he felt was comparable to a franchise legend from that same team.

“The prospects listed below could wind up being linked to [the legends] one day, as the best players for their clubs since,” Rang wrote.

His choice for the Las Vegas Raiders was certainly eye catching.

Jack Bech: ‘Constantly Winning on 50-50 Balls’

Jack Bech was the Raiders’ second round selection in the 2025 NFL draft. At 58th overall, the Raiders nabbed Bech after he racked up 1,034 yards receiving in his senior season at TCU.

Rang sees legendary potential in Bech even more than any other Raiders rookie, as he compared Bech to Hall of Fame former Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown.

“He plays big and has excellent body control, consistently winning on 50-50 balls,” Rang wrote about Bech. “The [Raiders] have been searching for a true No. 1 for decades and Bech has the ball skills and mentality to win big in Vegas.”

Bech stands at 6 foot 1 inches tall and weighs 214 pounds, not remarkably big for a receiver. But he is around the same size as Brown, who stands at exactly 6 feet and weighs 195 lbs.

That aside, it seems Rang seems something in Bech related to how he carries himself and approaches the game of football that evokes such a legendary comparison.

Could Bech Have (Close To) Brown’s Career?

Brown was a much bigger prospect than Bech coming out of college. Brown was the first wide receiver ever to win the Heisman Trophy award in 1987 and was selected in the first round, 6th overall in the 1988 NFL Draft. He was much more of a sure-looking superstar at that time.

Brown was a Pro Bowler in his very first NFL season and made it back to the Pro Bowl 8 times after that.

He led the NFL in receptions one year, kickoff return yards another, and he was an All-Pro twice.

Brown is currently 7th in All-Time receiving yards in NFL history with 14,934. Just based on that alone, he was an absolute legend.

Another thing that made Brown so legendary was his durability and reliability in a Silver and Black uniform. Brown played a whopping 16 seasons with the Raiders between Los Angeles and Oakland, and during his career, he set the All-Time record for most consecutive starts by a receiver with 176. Counting playoffs, Brown made 185 straight starts.

Could Bech reach anything close to those heights?

It’s obviously extremely difficult to tell given that Bech still has yet to play a down in an NFL game. Rang’s word as an expert talent evaluator is worth something, but you just never know until the football is actually played.

If anything, Bech is joining the Raiders at a great time to start a long career in Las Vegas. The Raiders are beginning a new era with Pete Carroll as Head Coach, and if that era is successful, The Raiders will try to preserve it for as long as they can.

But what do you think, Raiders fans? Will Jack Bech be spoken about in the same breath as Tim Brown when his career is all said and done?
