Las Vegas Raiders Projected to Pass on Quarterback in Latest Mock Draft

With the 2024 regular season coming to an end with just one game left to play, the Las Vegas Raiders look like they will not be getting a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The team had the number one pick just a couple of weeks ago, but back-to-back victories the last two weeks have them picking eighth overall.

Recent NFL Mock Draft Has Raiders Passing Over Shedeur Sanders Despite Apparent Interest - Athlon Sports

In a recent Mock Draft done by CBS Sports, the Raiders did not select a quarterback, as Shedeur Sanders went to the New York Giants, and the Cleveland Browns drafted Cam Ward.

Instead, Las Vegas focused on another position of need, corner. CBS Sports' Josh Edwards has the team selecting Michigan's Will Johnson with their first pick in the draft. Johnson, who only played in five games because of injury this season, has been compared to NFL elites like Patrick Surtain II, and is considered to be one of the best players when healthy who will be available.

"Will Johnson may be the best player available when healthy and available. He is a Patrick Surtain II-caliber cornerback prospect at his best," wrote Edwards. "Las Vegas has struggled to find a boundary cornerback worth investing in for more than a decade.

Despite only playing in the first five games of the season, Johnson still amounted to 14 tackles and two interceptions. The Raiders have had a tough time finding a solid long-time corner, and Johnson could be the answer Las Vegas is looking for if he remains healthy.
