The Las Vegas Raiders have recently undergone significant changes to their coaching staff amid a challenging season. They sit at 2-7 and feel like the bye week is the perfect time to regroup and bring in new faces as well as let some go.
Following a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the team decided to part ways with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, offensive line coach James Cregg, and quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello.
In response to these changes, the Raiders have brought in Norv Turner as a senior advisor, with his son, Scott Turner, taking over as the interim offensive coordinator.
Additionally, Joe Philbin has been appointed as the interim offensive line coach. These moves reflect an attempt by head coach Antonio Pierce to revitalize the team's offensive strategy and performance, which had been underperforming, as evidenced by their poor rankings in total offense, rushing yards, and scoring.
The biggest thing to note though, is that the Raiders have not designated a quarterback coach yet. Scangarello was, but after his departure, it feels like the Raiders will address that within the building later this week. That is one of the most important positions on an offensive staff, too.
The Raiders will roll with this stuff when they return from their bye week to play the Miami Dolphins. They will play the Denver Broncos after, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs. Their schedule only gets harder from here.
