Las Vegas Raiders HC Pete Carroll is already showing where Antonio Pierce lacked experience last offseason

This time last year we were still waiting on the Las Vegas Raiders to put together their coaching staff. In fact, it wasn't until two weeks from today that then-head coach Antonio Pierce actually finished his staff. He and the general manager at the time, Tom Telesco, took their sweet time. And, that's fine.

But, the longer it takes, the more behind your entire staff is in terms of the scouting process for the upcoming draft. And, the Raiders were behind a bit, as they were one of the last teams to have their coaching staff official. They got a late start on the scouting process as an entire team. And, who knows, maybe that did, maybe that didn't hurt them at all last year.

Some of these things are ticky-tacky, but I'm not sure why it would be a bad thing to have your staff done earlier than later. Sure, earlier could mean that you weren't thorough enough, but if you wait too long some of the candidates you want are already out of the mix.

As for this crew, though, let's just say Pete Carroll is showing the experience he has over Antonio Pierce already, and he hasn't even coached a game yet.

Raiders finalize 2025 coaching staff

On Tuesday, February 11, the Las Vegas Raiders made their 2025 coaching staff official, and there are some names on there you may recognize, like Patrick Graham who was the defensive coordinator last season, Rob Leonard the defensive line coach last season, Greg Olson, the former offensive coordinator for the Raiders who is now the quarterbacks coach, and a few others.

Hey, Carroll even brought on his two sons, too.

But the thing that stands out most is the dates on which both were submitted. If you look at the Raiders PR team and the announcement of both, Carroll announced on February 11, whereas Pierce announced on February 23. That's 12 more days.

This just goes to show that he has that experience factor already showing. He already knew who he wanted and where he wanted them. Now, it's time to get to work.
