The Las Vegas Raiders need a new head coach and a new general manager. They have been doing their due diligence on the first part of that, interviewing several head coaching candidates, but not many or any general manager candidates that we know of so far.
From everything we are hearing, there are really two candidates on the head coaching side who seem to be the favorites to land the job. No, it's not Mike Vrabel, even though it seemed like the Raiders would be the favorites to land him due to the Tom Brady connection, as the two of them were teammates in New England.
The two names we are hearing the most seem to be the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and former Seattle Seahawks star coach Pete Carroll. We have seen insiders like Vinny Bonsignore report that Carroll is a serious contender to land the job, and others are reporting Johnson.
In fact, since his interview, which was virtual, this weekend, Johnson seems to be gaining a lot of steam to land the job.
According to several reports, but most notably Ian Rapoport and Peter Schrager of NFL Network, Johnson seems to be the guy at this very moment.
However, some of the reports that Deion Sanders wants the job could change that, for all we know. Only time will tell what direction the Raiders go, but the rumors are swirling.
