Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek opens up the dialogue surrounding their wide receiver room

The wide receiver room for the Las Vegas Raiders is in a weird spot at the moment. They are in need of another guy, at least one more, but have some really good options already on the table.

And, what they need from the guy they get is kind of hard to explain. They don't necessarily need a small, fast guy who is a deep threat and can be a playmaker with the ball in his hands, because they have Tre Tucker, who hasn't really gotten to prove himself yet. They don't really need the big body possession receiver, because they basically have that in Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers.

Meyers isn't huge, but he's tall, and he's tall, and he's a possession receiver, as noted by his zero drops on 129 targets on the year. They need something between that, a guy who can roam the middle of the field and make tough catches when he knows he could be laid out by a linebacker. But, they also need a guy who has some YAC ability.

There are plenty of those kinds of receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft class. There aren't many like that left in free agency. But, the Raiders aren't ruling out either option when it comes to adding a guy in the room. And, they love what they already have.

"We've got a good one in Jakobi (Meyers)," general manager John Spytek said during the NFL Owners Meetings in West Palm Beach. "I've always been a fan of Tre (Tucker). We're looking at other guys that are still out there in free agency right now...and I think it's a pretty solid draft class, too."

As far as the free agency market, the Raiders seem like they could go for a guy like Tyler Lockett, who is older in age but has the chemistry with Carroll and Geno Smith from their days with the Seattle Seahawks. And, he fits what they need in a No. 2 or even No. 3 guy at the position.

There is also Amari Cooper, who just had a decent year with the Buffalo Bills, and Keenan Allen, who didn't really do what we thought he would with the Chicago Bears, and both are great route runners, but are also up there in age. They would fit the mold for what the Raiders need as well. When it comes to the 2025 NFL Draft, yes, this is a great class.

Someone, or maybe a few teams, are going to find some diamonds in the rough. The class isn't top-heavy like we have seen in the past. But, it's got some great talent deep in the later rounds. I'd love to see the Raiders pick up a guy like Kyle Williams in the fourth or fifth round, or even a player like Kobe Hudson, both of whom fit the mold for a middle-sized receiver with some quickness and ability to play the middle of the field.
