Las Vegas Raiders Could Pursue Huge Trade for $72 Million Star Defender

The Las Vegas Raiders are entering a new era of football under head coach Pete Carroll. While they have been unable to get back into playoff contention over the last couple of years despite much higher expectations, the Raiders have a new level of hope heading into the 2025 NFL season.

While the free agency frenzy has died down and the 2025 NFL Draft has come and gone, there are still options for Las Vegas to consider in order to improve the roster even more.

One of those options could be pursuing a trade for a proven veteran player.

There is one name that has been brought up as a potential target for the team. He would be a huge addition for the defensive secondary if he was acquired.

Nick Shook of NFL.com has named the Raiders as one of the top potential trade suitors for Miami Dolphins $72.3 million star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

“It would be ideal, then, to reverse that momentum on the defensive side by swinging a deal for a household name like Ramsey, who would look excellent in Silver and Black and instantly provide the Raiders with a respected cornerback in a secondary that could use some intimidation,” Shook wrote. “With the second-most cap space available in the NFL right now (at $42.3 million, per Over The Cap), the Raiders have the financial power to get it done, too.”

Ramsey is coming off of a 2024 season with the Dolphins that saw him play in 17 games. He racked up 60 total tackles to go along with a sack, two interceptions, and 11 defended passes. He is still more than capable of being a No. 1 cornerback.

Adding that kind of talent to a secondary that needs it would be a huge step towards contention. Las Vegas should strongly consider pursuing him if he is indeed available.
