The Las Vegas Raiders are making moves. This new regime is not wasting any time checking things off of their list. The first box was the Maxx Crosby extension. Check. The second was to address the quarterback position. Check.
And, both pretty much go hand in hand. You want to make sure that you're keeping your star player pretty happy. Crosby has lost a lot of football with the Raiders, and that's why guys like Myles Garrett on the Cleveland Browns, want to move on. However, the Raiders are much different than the Browns. The Browns are a bad business, and they are currently showing everyone why players shouldn't want to go to Cleveland.
I mean, let's be honest, the city of Cleveland does that itself for the Browns, but the Browns certainly aren't helping.
The Browns owner, Jimmy Haslam, declined a meeting request from Garrett during the request, or demand, I should say, from Garrett that he be traded. they are taking the "no trade talks," approach. He doesn't see a way he can stay with the team, especially when they aren't making moves to be progressive, and all he has done is lose. The Raiders are the exact opposite, now anyways.
Raiders are doing much more for Crosby than Browns for Garrett
On Friday, at night of course because the news is always released when we are all busy doing something else, the Raiders traded for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith. This may not seem like a big deal, but it's considered a blockbuster deal. And, this shows Crosby that they are doing whatever they can to get better.
And, that's what it's all about -- playing meaningful football games with Crosby, and building the right team around him to help him potentially win a championship. When the team is losing and there is turmoil, he is upset, and rightfully so. Getting the quarterback of the future, as reports are putting it, shows Crosby everything he needs to see with this new regime.
And he's excited for it, too. As he immediately took to Twitter. Crosby now has a QB, Myles Garrett still doesn't, and never has.
This new regime is not playing around.
