Laremy Tunsil rips Commanders insider after brutal takedown sparks firestorm

Laremy Tunsil was criticized by some sections of the media after his decision not to show up over the Washington Commanders' voluntary OTAs. And based on his recent social media post, he heard every critique loud and clear.

The Commanders are expecting big things from Tunsil after acquiring the left tackle via trade from the Houston Texans this offseason. His exceptional pass protection and imposing demeanor have the scope to completely shift the offensive line's dynamic. Something that would make quarterback Jayden Daniels' life easier as he looks to build on his heroic rookie exploits.

Tunsil opted to skip OTAs, which is a method he's adopted in recent years. Although understandable, that didn't stop Lynnell Willingham of 106.7 The Fan from launching a scathing attack on the blindside enforcer for his perceived lack of commitment.

Laremy Tunsil hits back at criticism of Commanders OTAs no-show

It's safe to say Tunsil had an emphatic answer for Willingham. The former first-round pick posted a video on social media showcasing how hard he was working away from the team. It also happened to include the direct quotes used by the reporter.

The not-so-subtle swipe provoked an inevitable frenzy on social media. But the fact that Tunsil showed up for Washington's mandatory minicamp should put everyone's fears to rest. If they had any, of course.

Tunsil wasn't involved much in the team portion of practice. This indicates he wasn't in the best shape, but it might just be all part of the process. We're still relatively early in Washington's preparations for the new campaign, and the Commanders' main objective is to have the Ole Miss graduate fit and ready for Week 1 against the New York Giants' formidable defensive front seven.

Washington needs Tunsil to be a game-changer. Second-year general manager Adam Peters invested heavily in the supporting cast around Daniels this offseason. If the five-time Pro Bowler maintains his outstanding production and first-round pick Josh Conerly Jr. hits the ground running, this has the potential to be a prolific tackle tandem capable of setting the table for the signal-caller to flourish.

If this scenario comes to fruition, nobody will remember that Tunsil opted not to participate in Washington's early offseason program.
