Lala Kent gave an update on her relationship with her long-estranged ex, Randall Emmett. The former “Vanderpump Rules” star spoke out on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat’ podcast in January 2025 and shared that she is on speaking terms with Emmett more than three years after their volatile split amid cheating rumors.

“It’s so crazy what time does,” Kent told host Amanda Hirsch. “Time has gone on you know, he and I have learned to like to be productive in conversations. And we still have ups and downs but it’s like, let’s look at the one thing we have in common and that’s [our daughter] Ocean and looking out for her best interest. It’s wild what time does.”
Kent clarified, “I wouldn’t say we’re good. We have one thing in common, and that’s our daughter. And when we have conversations, we stick to that, and they’re productive conversations.”
Kent and Emmett split in October 2021, seven months after welcoming their daughter Ocean.

Shortly after her split from Emmett in 2021, Kent told Page Six that she only communicated with her ex through a parenting app. “He and I don’t communicate much,” she told the outlet in December 2021. “We send very short messages through an app about Ocean and then we call it a day. I am only interested in talking about Ocean and things that concern her.”
During an April 2022 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Kent said she didn’t even want to have communication on the app anymore. “We parallel parent and I’m trying to move to zero contact,” she said. “We will see how that goes.”
She later told People magazine that she had no interest in coming face to face with Emmett ever again. “We only communicate about Ocean, and it’s very quick and simple,” she said in September 2022. “I haven’t seen him since the day I left him, and I think I want to forever keep it that way.”
However, over time, Kent found that she was able to communicate with Emmett. Speaking on “Watch What Happens Live” in November 2024, she said she was able to “come to a place” with her ex for the best interest of their daughter. “It’s not always golden,” Kent admitted. “I’m, like, a really fun ride, you know, I’ll take you on a rollercoaster. One day we’re good and then the next day he pisses me off. It’s all good. We always come back to Ocean and her wellbeing.”
On “Not Skinny But Not Fat,” Kent explained that she was eventually able to let go of her anger toward Emmett and focus on all that she has as a single, working mom of two girls. “I didn’t ever think that I would be okay without that person,” she admitted of Emmett.

In September 2024, Kent welcomed daughter Sosa using IUI and an anonymous sperm donor. She told Cosmopolitan that the reason she had a child on her own was because she didn’t want another custody situation like she had with Emmett.
“My heart is always going to be up for grabs,” she said in January 2024. “But my child? My future children? That will never be up for grabs ever again.”
On the podcast, Kent said she would like to have another child using the same sperm donor she sued to conceive Sosa. “The one that we all gave the happy face to, that is my baby daddy,” she told Hirsch of her anonymous donor.
“I don’t know who he is, where he lives, what he looks like,” she clarified. “I opted not to see adult photos because then it’s too close. It takes away the just mine aspect because if I’m out and about and I see someone that may look like him, there’s now a face to look at my daughter and be like, ‘She looks like the donor.’ I look at my daughter and I’m like, ‘She looks just like me.’”
