Kyle Ford gets his first NFL shot since leaving USC with the Las Vegas Raiders

Few players have had a better ending to their collegiate careers than Kyle Ford. Last season with USC, his game-winning touchdown gave the Trojans the final score in their Las Vegas Bowl win over Texas A&M. Now it looks as if he will be able to continue playing with the latest opportunity that has presented itself to him.

Las Vegas Raiders coach Pete Carroll is apparently all in on acquiring former Trojan talent. As initially shared by USC J on X, the wideout will be invited to that organization's rookie mini camp. With a new regime in town, the USC WR will look to make an impression and earn his keep on an NFL roster.

In terms of love of the game and willingness to work through adversity, Ford's devotion to football cannot be questioned. He's now an undrafted free agent, looking to make his way in the league. Knowing his history and what he's already overcome, this will be simply another hurdle for him to tackle in his career.

A lot of opportunities are there for UDFAs. Giving a strong showing of himself and putting on good practice tape will earn him continued consideration, either in Las Vegas or with another organization. What this shows is that NFL front offices are interested in potentially using a roster spot on him.

At a minimum, Ford will be afforded the opportunity to showcase his skill set in front of NFL scouts directly and ideally will receive feedback on what to improve on in the event that, for the time being, they elect to go a different way.

Chance for former USC wideout with former Trojan HC

Still, this is a positive development for Ford. Trojan fans enjoy seeing past players go on and have success once leaving campus. For the receiver, this is one step of many that can lead to him stepping foot on the field on Sundays.

Certainly in terms of being a hard worker and a good locker room guy, Ford will remain of interest for any NFL team out there. If the immediate call does come following the upcoming minicamp for him to stay with LV following its conclusion, he'll stay ready and will need to keep the phone nearby. A lot can happen in the NFL. Any number of reasons could see the former Trojan suit up as a pro. When it happens, it will be a highly celebrated day of celebration among USC fans.
