Knicks Provide Injury Update For 3 Key Players Before Pistons Game

The New York Knicks' injury report is filling up.

There is still a possibility that the New York Knicks lose their grasp on the third seed in the Eastern Conference ahead of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. Despite that, the Knicks will be taking a cautious approach for their upcoming matchup against the Detroit Pistons.

The Knicks will have an opportunity to rest on Wednesday night after a disappointing conclusion to their nail-biting matchup against the Boston Celtics. New York lost a painfully-close 119-117 ball game in overtime on Tuesday. Their former star, Kristaps Porzingis, was the catalyst to that Celtics' victory too.

Josh Hart and OG Anunoby both played massive minutes in the game against the Celtics. Both easily topped 40 minutes played in the contest. Hart led the team, with 47 under his belt, before fouling out of the matchup.

Those two have undoubtedly earned some rest. That will be the case for the matchup against the Pistons.

Health and rest will be the priority for the Knicks ahead of what the organization is hoping to be a deep postseason run. Realistically, it will not take much for New York to stay ahead of Indiana in the standings either.

The Knicks' doomsday scenario would involve them going 0-3 over these last three games of the 2024-25 schedule, while the Pacers do the opposite, going 3-0. That would mean that Indiana leapfrogs New York in the Eastern Conference standings.

It is very unlikely that will play out. That is especially true when considering the Knicks will play the Brooklyn Nets in their final regular season game. If New York and Indiana finished with the same record, the tiebreaker would go to the Knicks.
