Uncertainty about his future in the league certainly grew during the 2025 NFL Draft this past weekend for former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. Currently still a member of the Atlanta Falcons, the list of possible landing spots for Cousins this offseason is much smaller than it was just a few days ago.
Teams like the Vikings, Cleveland Browns, and New Orleans Saints, who were all once thought of as logical trade destinations for Cousins this year, added new members to their quarterback rooms during this year's NFL Draft.
So now, there is really only one team at this point in the offseason that seems like a believable landing spot for the former Minnesota quarterback, and the chances of it actually happening likely depend on a decision that Aaron Rodgers is currently contemplating.
For the past few weeks, people have been waiting to find out if Rodgers is going to retire from the NFL or continue his playing career as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Monday, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport shared his strong belief that Rodgers is going to eventually end up with Pittsburgh this year.
Rapoport also discussed how acquiring Cousins from the Falcons could be a "possibility" for the Steelers if they don't end up signing Rodgers this offseason.
Pittsburgh did actually select a quarterback in this year's NFL Draft when they added former Ohio State signal-caller Will Howard in the sixth round. But the Steelers drafting Howard shouldn't impact the chances of Cousins or Rodgers eventually ending up with the AFC North contender at some point this offseason.
Following everything that happened during this year's NFL Draft, Rapoport mentioned how it's really starting to seem like Cousins just sticks around in Atlanta as the team's backup behind Michael Penix Jr. for next season.
That would be disappointing for the former Vikings quarterback, but at least he would be able to wipe away some of his tears with the $27.5 million in cash that he's due to make this year.
