Philadelphia Eagles could be losing another one of their key defensive stalwarts in free agency this year.
The Philadelphia Eagles are understandably riding high right now. Just a week ago, they won the Super Bowl, bringing their first championship to the franchise in over half a decade.
The Eagles were able to take away Patrick Mahomes’ superpower in the Super Bowl. But it was the defense that was massive for them. Jalen Hurts gave the Eagles’ defense a lot of credit in their massive win.
One of the biggest moments was Cooper DeJean picking Patrick Mahomes’ pass, something he was so shocked by he didn’t even know what to do.
However, it wasn’t just that pick-six that got the Eagles the win, it was their entire defensive unit. But in some sad news, a major defensive star for the Eagles could be on the way out in free agency.

Philadelphia Eagles DL sets free agency priorities
Milton Williams, the defensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles is set to be a free agent this summer. Williams told the Philadelphia Inquirer that his priorities are finding the right team situation and getting paid.
“Just being in the right situation. Valuing what I bring to the table. Obviously, a raise. But I want to win. I like this feeling of winning and being on top of the world. So definitely want to try to get in a situation as close to this as possible.”
Williams had a great game in the Super Bowl, with two sacks on Patrick Mahomes and a forced fumble. He became a valuable part of the defensive front for the Eagles.
However, given the large number of free agents the Eagles are set to have, it might not be possible for the franchise to give Williams exactly what he is looking for.

Eagles might have to pull off big move
With the Eagles possibly losing Milton Williams and even Josh Sweat, they will have to bolster their defense. Their Super Bowl win was brilliant, but they cannot afford to rest on their laurels.
Bill Barnwell spoke recently about how the Eagles could make a big sweeping move and land Myles Garrett. Garrett would be a splashy move, but one that works with their salary cap.
Adding a former Defensive Player of the Year to their team could be enough to solidify the Eagles’ place at the top of the Eastern Conference.
