Kevin Stefanski Mulling Key Decision With Nick Chubb

The start of the 2023 NFL season was brutal for the Cleveland Browns regarding injuries sustained by star players, with the team losing quarterback Deshaun Watson and superstar running back Nick Chubb to season-ending injuries early in the campaign.

Although all expectations have been that Watson would recover from his shoulder injury and get back to work for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, the same could not be said for Chubb, whose knee injury seemed awful and something that might cost him a portion if not all of the next season.

With Week 1 rapidly approaching for the Browns, when they’ll host the Dallas Cowboys on September 8, a decision needs to be made on Chubb’s status, as he could very well start the season on the PUP list.

However, head coach Kevin Stefanski seems to be holding out hope that Chubb can get closer to returning in the coming weeks to prevent putting him on the PUP list to get the season underway next month, according to Spencer German of 92.3 The Fan.

If Chubb is put on the PUP list, with the decision-making deadline right around the corner, the four-time Pro Bowler will have to miss the first four games of the season.

In the first four weeks, the Browns will take on the Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders.

All of these matchups are winnable games for the Browns if they play up to their potential, especially if Chubb is healthy and able to contribute to the football field.
