Kerby Joseph worked out with a familiar face Lions fans will remember this week, could a return happen?

What an offseason it has been for Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph. He got first-team All-Pro honors, Defensive Player of the Year votes, and then became the highest-paid safety in the NFL.

Kerby Joseph worked out with a familiar face Lions fans will remember this week, could a return happen?

Now he's back to work getting ready for training camp and is working with defensive back guru Jacory "1Way" Nichols. Joseph has been working with Nichols a lot this offseason, and he's been joined by other Lions players as well. Terrion Arnold and Amik Robertson have worked out with Nichols.

This week, Joseph worked out with Nichols and a guy all Lions fans will remember, Tracy Walker.

You can see Walker standing on the sideline there and you can also see him wearing Lions colors as well.

The former Lions third-round pick had a really solid career with Detroit. He was a team captain at one point and earned a nice three-year, $25 million extension from the Lions after the 2021 season.

Unfortunately, Walker would tear his Achilles early in the 2022 season, and that cost him the entire year. He did return in 2023, but struggled to overcome the injury at that time. He was released as a cap casualty after the 2023 season.

Last season, he got to spend some time with the 49ers on their practice quad, but it was just for the first month of the season.

Could a return to the Lions be something that could happen? After all, safety was a need this offseason. At this time, we have to say probably not. While it would be an awesome story to see that comeback, Walker is 30 years old at this point, and he did struggle to make a roster last year.

On top of that, the Lions likely have their third safety in Avonte Maddox, and they have healthy competition brewing between Dan Jackson, Morice Norris, and Loren Strickland to nail down that fourth spot. Detroit probably feels good about where they're at right now.
