The Seattle Seahawks have undergone a lot of change on the offensive side of the ball this offseason, with the team swapping out quarterbacks and multiple wide receivers in what was a massive shift for the franchise.
One position that hasn't been touched is running back, but it's not outlandish to think the Seahawks could make a move there, and more specifically by trading away former second-round draft pick, Kenneth Walker.
Walker is no doubt a talented player who is a true difference-maker, but he has had issues staying healthy during his career and is coming off a season in which he missed a career-high six games.
Adding to that, Walker is slated to be a free agent in 2026 and Seattle might decide to get something for him now instead of possibly letting him walk in free agency next year.
One analyst who agrees with that idea is Pro Football & Sports Network's Sterling Xie, who thinks the Seahawks could trade Walker within the NFC to the Dallas Cowboys.
"The Browns and Cowboys also have large voids in the backfield, with [Nick] Chubb remaining unsigned and Rico Dowdle leaving Dallas for Carolina in free agency," he wrote.
In the wake of Dowdle leaving in free agency, the Cowboys signed both Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders in free agency. However, Williams' career has been a disappointment and Sanders fell off hard after joining the Carolina Panthers. As a result, it's safe to say the Cowboys could use more help.
Walker would immediately upgrade the running backs room. He's an explosive rusher who can also contribute as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. And, he's young enough (24) that he could be a long-term solution if he pans out.
Given the fact that Walker is coming off a down season and is in the final year of his rookie deal, he shouldn't be too expensive. We could see Dallas giving up a selection in the fourth of fifth round to acquire Walker's services.
If they do give up on Walker, the Seahawks would still be in good shape at running back. Zach Charbonnet would be a solid replacement, and Kenny McIntosh, who showed some promise last season, would be his backup.
Beyond those two, the Seahawks could add a running back in the 2025 NFL draft, which is loaded with talent at the position. But that fact could also make it tough for Seattle to trade Walker, as teams might be more keen on landing a younger, cheaper option later this month.
