Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans know and love Kathy Swarts from “The Golden Bachelor” and her podcast “Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour.”
Kathy has been keeping fans up to date on her life since her time on “The Golden Bachelor,” including posting a series of videos online sharing her thoughts on different topics.
Now, she’s taken to Instagram to share another video about how grief has changed her perspective on life.
As fans know, Kathy’s husband passed away suddenly a few years ago and she has been very open about seeing a grief therapist since then.
The Bachelor Nation star started her new video by sharing, “Another question I’m often asked is how grief changed my perspective on life. The answer is in every way you can imagine.”
She continued, “I wake up with a prayer, grateful for every morning I wake up. I know it sounds trite, but I look out at the trees and the birds and the sky and the clouds and the rain. Every little minute thing, I just appreciate now.”
Kathy expanded on how her perspective has changed and what she feels extra grateful for now.
She said, “I appreciate my family more, I appreciate my friends more. I value the opportunity to try new things and have adventures because, another trite phrase, you only go around once. That’s so true, and so my perspective is to enjoy every day I have.”
Kathy continued, “I’m grateful for my health, that I can do all things that I do. And… it’s a sad thing to say that grief, you have to go through this horrible thing to change your perspective.”
She reflected further, saying, “But if I could have done it a different way, I would have. But I think my capacity to love is greater, my capacity to understand is greater, my capacity to have compassion for other people in their struggles is greater.”
Kathy finished the video with one last thought, adding, “And those are all wonderful lessons to learn. I just wish I hadn’t had to learn them the way I did.”
The Bachelor Nation star captioned her video, “Grief changes you ❤️” and followers flooded her comment section with words of love and support.
We know Kathy sharing her story will help others and we appreciate her being so open about her experience.
We are sending the Swarts family continuous love and support!
