Kathryn Dennis Shares More Insights on Motherhood and Family

Kathryn Dennis is sending love to all of her fellow moms.

The Southern Charm alum spent a portion of her Mother’s Day resharing inspirational quotes and messages about the role of being a parent. Kathryn, of course, knows all about the joys and challenges of raising kids, as she is a mom to 11-year-old daughter Kensington Calhoun Ravenel and 9-year-old son St. Julien Rembert Ravenel.

Kathryn Dennis shares a special message for Mother's Day

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers,” read one of her posts. “You are loved. You are valued. You are appreciated. You are everything. What you do, does not go unnoticed.”

Kathryn also shared a quote from British author/scholar C.S. Lewis, who often emphasized the importance of children’s development and well-being.

“‘Children are not a distraction from more important work. They are the most important work,’” read the post, which was followed by a modern interpretation of C.S.’s words. “In the end, the legacy that matters won’t be what you built in the world. It will be who you raised and whether they felt safe, seen, and loved in your presence.”

Kathryn went on to share a few words about breaking unfortunate family cycles and treating others with kindness. She then reposted a message “to everybody going through Mother’s Day weekend with no Mother… I love you.”

This year marks the sixth Mother’s Day since Kathryn lost her mom, Allison Calhoun Dennis. The 57-year-old died on August 7, 2019, after an “extended illness.” Kathryn reflected on the family tragedy in a 2020 interview with People magazine, shedding more light on her mother’s final days.

"My mom’s my best friend. She stuck by me through so much. I don’t know what I would do without her," Kathryn said. “She was sick for a year and a half and I was taking care of her."

The former Southern Charm-er said her mom had previously battled cancer and "essentially" moved in with her when she became sick.

"It’s great to have her around, especially because she’s so good with the kids (Saint and Kenzie)," Kathryn said. "She’s amazing. She’s the best mom I could ever hope for with everything.”

Allison’s passing occurred less than four years before Kathryn exited Southern Charm. Since then, the mother of two has kept a relatively low profile, sharing occasional updates on her kids and work life. In March 2024, Kathryn announced she was going back to school but did not provide any further details. She has also posted a few selfies with self-empowerment captions.

“Inner Peace. Self Worth,” she wrote in a June 2024 Instagram post. “It’s been my mantra since I was 21, still going strong. [W]hat’s yours?”
