Kareem Hunt, Gardner Minshew officially sign free agent contracts with Kansas City Chiefs

On Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs officially announced their signings of veteran running back Kareem Hunt and quarterback Gardner Minshew.

Hunt is returning to the Chiefs after a successful stint in Kansas City last season when he signed with the team after star rusher Isiah Pacheco sustained a lower-body injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.

Chiefs free agency: K.C. officially signs Kareem Hunt, Gardner Minshew

Minshew is set to replace journeyman signal-caller Carson Wentz as the Chiefs' primary backup quarterback behind Patrick Mahomes.

Though news of Kansas City's decision to sign Hunt and Minshew broke last week, the Chiefs officially recognized their acquisitions in two posts to Twitter on March 17:

With Hunt and Minshew officially under contract, it is unlikely that Kansas City's front office will decide to add another running back or quarterback in free agency.

The Chiefs already signed former San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell in their opening salvo of signings on March 10, and Kansas City only tends to carry one backup quarterback on its 53-man roster.
