Before the Kansas City Chiefs 32-29 AFC Championship Game victory over the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday night, head coach Andy Reid announced the team would lose wide receiver Mecole Hardman for the remainder of the postseason due to a knee injury he suffered in December.
Hardman and second-year receiver Rashee Rice won’t be available for Kansas City when the team plays the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 on Feb. 9. The Chiefs will be without another pass catcher as the team tries to complete a three-peat.
The Kansas City Chiefs don’t believe a WR will play
This week, the Chiefs activated Skyy Moore to practice.
The No. 54 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has been on injured reserve since Oct. 24 due to a core muscle injury. The former Western Michigan standout was a limited participant during practice on Thursday and Friday.
Sky Moore would have been helpful on special teams
Per the Chiefs injury report Friday afternoon, the team is listing Moore as doubtful to play the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Moore was primarily useful for the Chiefs on special teams before October’s injury. He would be a key figure on that unit in the Super Bowl, if healthy.
At 24, Moore has recorded 43 catches for 494 yards and one touchdown. He has no receptions in 2024.
